Email Rumor NOT true.

13 10 2007

People across the country have been getting emails detailing how telemarketers are obtaining cell phone numbers to start cold calling them.  This email has been in circulation before and is not true.

Another Urban Legend; and that’s great news for all you cell phone toting consumers out there.  The Federal Trade Commission has said that it is illegal for most companies to call cell phone numbers to push their service or products.  This of course has not alleviated the fact that thousands of people are calling the FTC to see what they can do to stay off telemarketers hit lists.

The FTC says consumers can add their cell phone numbers to the Do Not Call list, but that’s unnecessary.  If you would like to add your cell phone number to the National Do Not Call list, you can call 1.888.382.1222 or sign up via web page www.donotcall.gov.

Hello world!  My name is Thomas and I am starting this blog for two reasons…..The first is that I find writing a great opportunity to let consumers know what is happening in the cell phone industry.  As an owner of a wireless store, I have great insight to all that is cellular!   The second reason is that I like to write!  I think it’s a great way to keep up with all the industry changes and stap on top of where the industry is going!

First, a little about my business…..

My store is a little different than most of you are used to seeing…we carry multiple wireless carriers so you can come in an compare all your choices.  Instead of hopping from one carrier store to the other, we make it convienent to stop in and ask about all the major carriers including Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, T-Mobile, Cricket (Local Carrier if you have never heard of them).  We are also an authorized representative of Clearwire, wireless broadband.  I will go further into that company’s profile in another post.

 So where to start?

The cell phone has changed the way we communicate with each other on a daily basis!  The other day, my daughter Ainsley (she’s four years old) asked me what her sister Taeya was pulling along the living room.  The object in question was a toy rotary phone with silly eyes and a mouth.  Ainsley has never seen a rotary phone being used around our household as my wife and I were early to cut the landline and go exclusively cellular.  I told her it was a phone, but she looked at me as though I was crazy!  How times have changed!

I think the best place to start is to jump in and write about the latest news concerning the wireless world……..

I hope you all enjoy what I post on this blog….as for the first blog….it will have to wait until I get back from a buddies bachelor party.  He is getting married in October so we are heading up to a cabin in Donnely, Idaho to make sure he leaves the bachelor life with a bang!  Welcome to married life Mr. Z.
